Surgery of any form, whether minor or major, can be both brilliantly life-changing and quite daunting. We understand how difficult it can be to make the decision to go ahead with surgery, which is why at every turn Dr. Ek and our friendly staff are dedicated to giving you the information and advice you need to make the most educated decision possible.
While it's possible to find an almost endless array of information on surgical procedures online these days, there's no substitute for meeting your prospective surgeon and practice staff and having a compassionate, caring professional answer your questions and concerns.
Sharing advice and information, building trust and communicating openly are at the core of what Dr. Ek and his team aim to deliver to every patient.

Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon
Senior Lecturer, University of Melbourne
Dr. Edmund Ek graduated from Monash University Medical School with first class honours in 2003. During his medical degree he was the recipient of numerous academic prizes and achievement awards, and graduated as the top student of his graduating class.
Having decided at an early stage to pursue a career in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Edmund completed his Basic Surgical Training at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne, where in 2005 he was awarded the Sir Gordon Gordon-Taylor Prize for obtaining the highest mark in Australasia in his surgical exams.
Edmund began his Plastic Surgical training after one year of Advanced General Surgical Training, during which time he trained at all of Melbourne's major Plastic Surgery centres, including the Alfred, Royal Melbourne and Royal Children’s Hospitals.
Since completing his Fellowship Training, Edmund has quickly established himself as a rising star in his field. He holds multiple public hospital appointments, working as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at St. Vincent’s Hospital, The Alfred Hospital and Ballarat Base Hospital. He is also tenured at the University of Melbourne as a Senior Lecturer for the Faculty of Medicine, participating in medical student teaching, research and course development.
Edmund enjoys travelling and has a special interest in microsurgery, skin cancer surgery, reconstructive and aesthetic breast surgery and hand surgery.
Amy has been working with Dr. Ek for two years. As Dr. Ek's P.A., Amy is the first point of contact for our patients, and makes it her mission to ensure that they are looked after, both before and after their procedure.
In addition to her background in Hospitality Management, Travel and Tourism and also a Diploma in Beauty Therapy, Amy has a special interest in plastic surgery, particularly aesthetic procedures such as Breast Augmentation and Abdominoplasty.
Amy is an invaluable part of Dr. Ek's practice, and loves her job – especially the customer service aspect of it, and the chance to learn about plastic surgery. As she puts it, “I couldn’t ask for a better boss - his knowledge and skills as a surgeon are remarkable, and he also makes the job fun and interesting!”
